Screening: Oh! What a Lovely War (1969)

La Première Guerre mondiale est mise en scène sous forme de comédie musicale, à travers une série de numéros chantés et dansés. L'histoire suit la famille Smith – qui incarne la classe ouvrière britannique – qui, au départ, envisage la guerre avec un optimisme sans faille. Les Smith reviennent sur leur vision initialement optimiste de la Première Guerre mondiale après que les trois garçons de la famille ont été témoins de la dure réalité de la guerre des tranchées.

World War I gets the musical treatment in a series of a song-and-dance vignettes. Throughout it follows the Smith family -- stand-ins for the British working class -- who initially view the war with sunny optimism. The Smiths change their initially sunny views on World War I after the three boys of the family witness the harsh reality of trench warfare.
