About the event
Vernissage: December 5, 6 PM-9 PM
Jane Aimée Soleil is a visual artist working across painting, sewing, and animation. Her current work centers on figures of women in ethereal, soft, natural settings.
For Jane, these figures are deeply personal. “Painting women I know is my love letter to them, and it’s important to me that women continue to be represented in art for themselves and for other women - to celebrate and empower the community, safety, understanding, and strength we offer to one another.” Feminism and environmentalism are not separate themes in her work, but lenses through which she considers care, connection, representation, and how we relate to one another and to the environments we inhabit.
Jane’s artistic background has been shaped as much by formal education as by the places, cultures, and experiences she has encountered along the way. She holds a DEC in Studio Arts from Dawson College…
