About the event
Location: 1844 rue William, Montreal, QC
Louise Guimond is a Montreal-based visual artist. Following a long career as a fashion designer and costume stylist, her love of colour and texture led her to painting. Over the past several years, she has honed her skills and has created a unique visual language that melds figurative realism and abstraction.
Not constrained to a single medium, style or subject, Louise paints with oils and acrylics mixed with collage to create textural interest. Her creative process begins without a preconceived final result but instead, an image slowly emerges through multiple layers. These textured layers allow her to build a movement, impromptu highlights and markings upon her subjects.
Louise’s artwork is a reflection of her passion for painting. She believes that each canvas is an opportunity to explore and to experiment with colour, texture and emotion, creating a captivating visual experience for the viewer.

This exhibition will mesmerize you with a series of portraits inspired by the subtle sensuality of human expressions. Her portraits capture the mood of the subject, through a soft tilt of the head or a penetrating gaze. By doing so, Louise emotionally engages the viewer and draws them into a specific moment.
Please note, the museum admission fees are waived for the opening night event, however, they will apply throughout the duration of the exhibition.
