About the event

'Reimagining Ireland' is not just an exhibition; it's a reflection of Avy's 25-year artistic and personal journey. It's also a heartfelt tribute to her husband, who annually guided their family through the enchanting landscapes, customs, and traditions of his Irish hometown. This year, Avy celebrates her remarkable 25th year as a batik artist, and she's excited to welcome you to her forthcoming exhibition at the Montréal Art Center and Museum.

Meet Avy Loftus

Avy is a Montreal-based visual artist and batik designer whose artistic journey started at a young age and has taken her across the world. Namely, Avy's art has been showcased in exhibitions spanning Canada, the USA, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Bulgaria, and Bermuda. Complementing her artistic pursuits, Avy is a passionate community leader, conducting engaging batik workshops at prominent venues such as Harbour Front in Toronto, the Canadian Museum of Civilization (now: Canadian Museum of History) and the Indonesian Embassy, in Ottawa; Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec, Annual Tulip Festival, Major Park in Ottawa, Chicago Children’s Museum, Textile museum in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Indonesian Embassy and the International Children’s Festival in Washington DC and Summer Children Festival in Ireland.. Currently, Avy holds the role of President at the Asian Canadian Women Artists and serves as a director for the Peace, Love, and Hope art project. She actively contributes to various organizations, including the Women’s Art Society of Montreal, ArtistsInspire (through ELAN), Culture in School Program, and Artists in Montreal. Avy's unwavering passion for art and her commitment to her craft radiate through her diverse artistic endeavours.
